      Yes, this is a crusting buttercream. And yes, I use this for my semi naked cakes.

    Just subscribed and liked this video. I love the recipe, simple and looks like it’s tasty I can’t wait to try it. My one little constructive suggestion… lower the music. At times it’s hard to hear you I had to go back quite a few times. But your voice, is very nice, your tutorial is awesome and to the point. I’m a fan!

    I have tried a hack of my own. Epic fail! 😂 I would keep eyeing the 4” frost form (that’s the size I want for the mini cakes I make) but my gosh! It comes out to $90 on sale when shipping is added!! I am going to try this. Question: the collar fits between the pan and the cake board right? This is an issue because I don’t want to trim my cakes any smaller than 4”. If I use a 5” pan, then the frosting is going to be 1/2” thick!

      Here’s my American Buttercream recipe that I used for this cake and is the recipe I use most often: ruclips.net/video/wkzg3FGvbwM/видео.htmlsi=GMxagTwm_hmO7BTP Buttercream will melt like butter so that does make it a challenge in hotter climates. One of the things I do is work with two bags when piping and pop one bag in the fridge while piping with the other one and as soon as the other one starts to get too soft from the warmth of your hand, trade that one for the one in the fridge. Another tip if the cake itself is going to be in a warmer climate is to use a buttercream made with high ratio shortening because it withstands higher temperatures before melting. That recipe is also on my channel.

    I have a question, I'm not sure if you addressed it as i was quickly going through the video so my apologies in advance if you did! what is the purpose of the straws if they're not going through multiple layers like the wooden dowel? and if youre only doing two layers would you still recommend the straws along with the dowel?

      Each tier, which I typically use about two to three layers, has a cardboard circle underneath so the straws on each tier support the tier above it. If you didn’t have the support for each tier you would soon see bulging from layers as they’re squished and also any fillings would ooze out. Only the top tier doesn’t need straws because it’s not supporting anything. The wooden dowel that goes through the center of all the tiers is to keep any layers from sliding during transport.

    I only got couplers with small tips I got larger tips and come without them?

      You can buy a larger coupler if you want for the larger tips or you can just cut the hole in the bag and snuggly fit the large tip in without the coupler.

    How do you secure the pipe to wood when transferring it?

      For this structure, I just drilled the hole and placed the pipe in it to fit snuggly and that works only if you don’t have to move the cake far. If you have to move it anywhere or you just want it more sturdy for piece of mind, I would definitely use a floor flange like I did in this video: ruclips.net/video/ofZCvJbDFQc/видео.html Most of my 3D cakes I now use the floor flange method at the bottom because it’s so much sturdier especially if you ever have to transport the cake.

      Oh, thank you for taking the time ro reply! Im visually impaired & in a panic about my mums birthday cake. I dont want to fork out for frost. F but want to use the butter ganache. Most loose bottom cake tins have an edge similar to the frostf plastic thing. Trial & error i suppose. Thanks!​@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes
